The School

The training in Spain is carried out at Europe's leading Paramotor training school and is run by a small number of professional and passionate instructors who have learnt extreme sports from the ground up.

Adventure Flight is delighted to be able to offer courses and holidays through their expertise.

All equipment is provided, which ensures the safety of students through day to day equipment maintenance and the inclusion of reserve parachutes on all Paramotors.

The organisation is run by Alex Ledger. Alex has managed the school since 2004 and is an experienced Paramotoring instructor. He is also a passionate paraglider pilot, skydiver, speed rider, snowboard instructor, cross country runner, motorcoss rider and free climber!

The school's team of instructors are all as passionate as Alex about the Sport and have come through the professional training system of the School, ensuring high standards and allowing them to bring their knowledge and experience to the next generation of pilots.

The Location - UK

Courses take place in Mere, Wiltshire, which is approximately 2 hours west of London.

The surrounding countryside offers some ideal Paragliding and Paramotoring training locations as well as being one of the most beautiful areas of the country to fly in.

The A303 runs straight past Mere which makes it very easy to reach from all directions. The training takes place from various hills within 15 minutes from Mere. The nearest train station is Gillingham Dorset which is 10 minutes away.

Students meet opposite the Co-Op in the centre of town from where transport is provided to the necessary training locations, depending upon the wind direction.

The Location - Spain

The courses in Spain take place at Aerodromo Ordis, which  is approximately 10 minutes from Figueres, the birth place of Salvador Dali, and only 25 minutes from the Costa Brava coastline.

The location is easily accessible both by air, road and rail. The AP-7 motorway runs straight past Figueres making the French border less than 30 minutes to the north and Barcelona 2 hours to the south.

All courses start at 9.00am on Monday morning and end on Saturday afternoon. Students should therefore aim to arrive and depart on a Sunday.

Girona Airport is 1 hour to the south and is a Ryan Air hub. There are plenty of cheap flights available from a wide range of locations around Europe. There are train and bus services from the airport to Figueres. Girona Airport transfers cost €35 per person/per way.

Perpignan Airport is 75 minutes to the north of Figueres, just inside the French border. It is serviced by Ryan Air, Flybe and BMI Baby.

Perpignan Airport transfers cost €50 per person/per way. Barcelona International Airport is 2 hours to the south and has a very good train connection which runs to Figueres, 10 minutes from Aerodromo Ordis. Collections from Figueres train station cost €10 per person/per way.

If hiring a car from Girona Airport we recommend the AP-7 Toll road north towards Figueres.

Leave the AP-7 just south of Figueres at Junction 4. After going through the toll booth take the first right hand exit at the round about along the GIV-5128 sign posted Olot, Besalu or Navata. Follow this road for approximately 5 minutes going straight over every round about until you reach a T junction. This is the N-260 and at this point you should turn right and drive approximately 500m before turning right again at Kilometer marker '45', sign posted 'Aeroclub Ordis' on a yellow background. If you get to 'Mas Pau' you have gone 2 kilometers too far.

The Equipment

Paramania:

Both training locations are registered as official Paramania Training schools and use the the GoFly, Revolution and Action GT Paramotors.

Paramania are the world's leading Powered Paraglider manufacturer, ever since Mike Campbell Jones designed the revolutionary Reflex wing in 1994. Since then Paramania have constantly improved and updated their wings to produce the world's leading range of beginner, intermediate and advanced Powered Paragliders.

Paramania Go - Fly;

The Paramania GoFly is the latest addition to the Paramania range. It is the ideal choice for beginners or occasional pilots looking for a solid and stable wing with easy inflation characteristics.

Both on the ground and in the air, the wing's crisp forgiving handling gives pilots the progressive advantage of developing their flying skills towards the Reflex wings in the range. SkySchool uses the GoFly in the training school and it is the recommended wing for nearly all new pilots.

Microavionics Headsets, Helemts and Strobes:

The Mircoavionics helmets, headsets and strobes are some of the best on the market.

The helmet is designed to fit perfectly with the headset and the strobe is very light and can be easily fitted to the paramotor. The advanced Microavionics Paramotor headset is fitted with a side tone as well as connection points for a mobile phone, second radio and a music device.

Gin One G Reserve:

The Gin One G Reserve is a light weight reserve providing an opening time of between 2.9 and 3.4 seconds and a sink rate of less than 4.5 meters per second. In the unlikely event that it is required, the Gin One G will not let you down.

The Apco First Harness:

The Apco First harness is SkySchool's harness of choice in the training school. It is very light and easy to transport as well as being very well made. The harness is fitted with light weight aluminium carabiners and has plenty of storage space at the back.

Dudek Marlin 12 m Wing:

The Marlin is a small training wing dedicated exclusively for ground handling exercises. The Marlin is used in the training school in order to open up the opportunity for ground handling in wind speeds of up to 25mph. Due to its small surface area the wing is remarkably calm in gusty winds. It is also ideal for those who are very light.
